Yvonne L. Hinson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Yvonne L. Hinson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2024. Yvonne’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her dedication to serving others.

Born in Kannapolis, NC, Yvonne was a beacon of grace and compassion throughout her life. She built a home filled with love, faith, and joy. Yvonne was a devoted mother to Dana and John Hinson, and her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children to anyone who needed a mother’s touch. She cherished her role as a mother, aunt, grandmother and took immense pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, always offering guidance, wisdom, and love. Her gentle spirit and warm smile touched the hearts of all who knew her. Yvonne’s kindness knew no bounds, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. She had a special gift for making everyone feel valued and loved.

Yvonne was an active member of North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church and Stonewater Church in Granbury, Texas, where she served faithfully. Her involvement in the church’s ministries, whether through volunteering, or simply offering a kind word, was a reflection of her deep commitment to her faith. She believed in the power of prayer and spent many hours praying for her family, friends, and community.

She worked for the Federal Reserve in Charlotte, NC for 42 years as a Supervisor until her retirement.

Though Yvonne will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Heavenly Father, free from pain and suffering, and reunited with loved ones who have gone before her.

Yvonne is survived by her loving children, Dana Hinson & DeAnne and John Wesley Hinson & Kema; her grandchildren, Sawyer, Georgia, Jacob, Vanessa, Michelle, Christi, Jacob #2, Natalie and Zachary; her great-grandchild, Levi; her brother, David Leonard & sister-in-law, Linda Leonard; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Glenn and Hazel Leonard; brothers and sisters, Helen, Joe, Mary and Kenneth.

A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held on September 28, 2024, 11:30am visitation and 12:30pm Service at North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church 314 W 12th St. Kannapolis, NC, 28081. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to North Kannapolis Wesleyan Church, in honor of Yvonne’s lifelong commitment to serving others.
