Thomas Jeffery Holland, better known to most as "Jeff", passed away Monday, May 22nd, 2023, of natural causes in his home. He was born on October 3rd, 1955, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Wayland and Faye Holland.
In the following years, he was blessed with two younger brothers, Barton and Delton Holland. Jeff spoke often of his brothers, and one story he shared about becoming the oldest of three was about Barton. "Bart" was the first brought home of the two, and according to Jeff (age 2), he welcomed his arrival with a very sharp, "Get that baby outta here!". Unbeknownst to him, Bart would become his best friend and mirror soul. Although he was resistant to welcoming his first brother, he approached the arrival of his second brother as the polar opposite. Being the oldest and the one able to meet Delton in the hospital at the time (Bart couldn't be due to his age), Jeff chose to wait and share the arrival of Delton with Bart together. That story was something his mother was very proud to share regularly about Jeff, as it expressed his compassion for others. In fact, Jeff spent his entire life dedicated to the service of others, and he did so honorably. He graduated with an associate degree from Sam Houston State University and went on to graduate from the Texas Department of Public Safety Academy. Shortly after that, he began his long-serving career with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He didn't stop there; over the years, Jeff gained many accolades and experience in various areas of law enforcement. Jeff worked with many honorable people throughout his career, making lifelong friendships and colleagues. The memories and stories he made with them are something he cherished for the rest of his life. He was the kind of man to help a friend in any way possible but take zero credit for his part in their proud successes. Some of his hobbies were fishing with his daughter, golfing with colleagues and friends, spending time with his dog Sacha, spending time with his cousins Anita and Teresa and their families, making and listening to music, and bragging about his grandbabies. The world may not have known it, but in our world, it was a better and safer place with him in it. He will be missed in indescribable measure.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Wayland Holland; mother, Faye Crum; and brother, Bart Holland.
He is survived by his daughter, Tapley Benton; son-in-law, Tony Benton; granddaughter, Waylynn Benton; grandson, Maverick Benton; brother, Delton Holland; aunts; an uncle; and many cousins and their families.
