Terry Lee Cottrell

Terry Lee Cottrell, born January 16th, 1957, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

There will be a Memorial Service at 11 am on Saturday, February 13th, 2021 at Fort Worth Funerals & Cremations, 8808 Camp Bowie W, Fort Worth, TX 76116.

January, often referred to as “Happy Birthday Month” was a long month this year, Terry walked into the hospital on December 31st, 2020 and died January 31st, 2021 at the age of 64. He was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, a grandpa, and a friend. He served in the army for a short time when he was young and always spoke fondly of it. One of his favorite things to do was to go to the coast and go deep sea fishing. Terry made several trips with friends over the past few decades and always came back with great stories and lots of fish. While working at A&T Auto, Terry helped build, paint and maintain the two stock cars sponsored and driven by the owners. Terry loved the cars and the races. He also loved to shoot pool and competed in tournaments when he was younger. He worked on many crews over the years building houses. Most recently he was working for Carol & Kirk Lively where he was everything from a ground’s keeper to a handyman. Terry was a hardworking man or “just a country boy” as he would say. His humorous sayings and jokes are what he would want us to remember most, he had one for every occasion and circumstance. He could often be seen outside smoking a cigarette, fixing a car, complaining about the heat, or headed to the Stockyards “to have a big time”.

Terry is preceded in death by his loving sister, Tina Cottrell, as well as parents, Helen (Cottrell) Fitzhugh and Ray Cottrell leaving Robert Cottrell (Elaine) the last remaining sibling in the family.

Terry will be missed by his children, Sara, Jeremy, and Mitchell Cottrell as well as Nina and Nathan Murphy.  Terry also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends who will also miss him deeply.
