Terri Johnson Obituary

It is with infinite sorrow that we announce the passing of Terri Johnson. Terri was called Home on the morning of July 2nd, 2022 - just a few months shy of her 72nd birthday.

Born on October 30th, 1950 in West Plains, Missouri to Knute Laverne Johnson and Zelda Mae Brandt, Terri was loved by all who knew her. She grew up in California, graduating from Merced High School in 1968, and from there, she wore many hats. Between doing hair, running a salvage yard, working shifts at a bowling alley, and babysitting for the neighbors, she had all kinds of fun stories to tell, but she found her passion later in life with a career in caregiving, a fitting occupation for her overwhelmingly kind heart.

After joining her parents in Southern Oregon in 1990, Terri built a beautiful life for her three children and the many animals they convinced her to keep over the years, though, it never really took much convincing. Terri never met a stranger and didn’t hesitate to help those in need. Whether it was giving to the less fortunate or just being there for a friend, you could always count on Terri’s kindness.

She later moved to Arlington, Texas in 2003 to be closer to family and continued her caregiving career. After retiring in 2015, Terri still dedicated her time to others, and was always happy to be the designated hostess for any family get-togethers so we could enjoy her comforting, home-cooked meals. She also loved tending to her gorgeous flowers and was envied by the neighbors for her green thumb. When she wasn’t watering her lovely petunias, it was guaranteed you’d find her shopping for gifts for her grandchildren or sneaking extra treats to Riley, the family dog.

In 2016, Terri moved to Fort Worth with her daughter, Keri. She enjoyed her long chats with her dear friends from Oregon and would always offer a shoulder to lean on when times were tough. She enjoyed reading, learning about animals, and filling notebooks with new recipes she found. She was always the best audience for a joke, as she dearly loved to laugh. Terri was an outstanding cheerleader for her daughter and two sons. Among many other strengths, she was a good listener, a reliable source for sage advice, thoughtful reassurance, and words of encouragement. Terri’s hugs could heal any wound, and her friends and family, who love her more than words could say, simply will not be the same without her.

Terri leaves behind her 3 children, sons, Kevin Johnson and his wife, Teresa of Bourbonnais, IL; Kenny Johnson and his wife, Brenna of Montgomery, TX; and daughter, Keri Pierini, of Fort Worth, TX.

She is also survived by her brother, Russell Johnson and his wife, Rhonda of East Texas; sister, Corky McCorkhill and her husband, Michael of Palestine, TX; nephew, Colby Mason and his wife, Jessica, and their son, Braeden of Arlington, TX; along with her beautiful, dearly loved grandchildren, Grace, Hailey, Addison, Colton, Justin, and Logan.

At Terri’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Her family will gather privately to celebrate her life. We invite you to celebrate her memory in your own way. Whether you choose to reflect on the beauty of nature around you, or give an extra treat to your pet, know that Terri would also find peace and joy in those everyday moments.
