Silvesta "Ray" Herring

Silvesta “Ray” Herring, 88, of Mineral Wells, Texas passed away August 23, 2021 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ray was born in Hico, Texas on May 1, 1933 to Lincoln David and Cora Lee Herring. After retiring from the railroad, Ray spent his time developing properties in his community. He was hard-working, had a great sense of humor, and was very outgoing. Ray enjoyed the outdoors, especially barbeques and going to the lake. He loved his family and being around people.

Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Opal Marie Harvey Herring; his son, Darby Clark; his parents, Lincoln David and Cora Lee Herring; his twin sister, Selesta Herring Sullivan; sister, Juanna B. Herring Cochran; brothers, Billy Joe Herring, and Lincoln David Herring Jr.

He is survived by his son, Billy Ray Herring; daughter, Silvia Marie Herring and spouse, Michael Salas; their children, Ashley, Cecilly, Bryan, and Devin Salas; as well as five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, James Clark Herring; sisters, Rowena Herring Anderson and Sharon Lee Herring Childers; his niece, nephews, and many other family members and friends. 

Fort Worth Funerals & Cremations Home is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
