Shirley Fern Lasher Pitcher, 93, went home to the Lord on Monday, January 13, 2025. She was surrounded by family as she peacefully ended her earthly journey at home.
Shirley was born in Roundup, Montana. She met John Pitcher, an airman stationed in Montana, at the family restaurant. They married in October 1949. She was a wife and homemaker for many years, the mother of six loving children. Later, after much hard work and perseverance, she became an engineer in the aerospace industry. Shirley retired from Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth after a long and successful career.
Shirley was admired, respected and loved by many and made friends everywhere she went. She was quite adventurous and loved traveling. She lived life to the fullest and exuded love and kindness to all who crossed her path.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and participated fully and joyfully with her Church family. Shirley’s faith was very important to her and she passed with the full knowledge that she was going to heaven.
Shirley was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Loretta Cartwright; husband, John Daniel Pershing Pitcher; sons, John Pitcher and Rick Pitcher; son-in-law, Mark Scott; brothers, Bob Lasher, Wayne Cartwright and Bob Cartwright; and sisters, Lucille Wethern and Juanita Rollins.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Jerome Pitcher and Brian Pitcher; daughters, Loretta Scott and Brenda Pitcher; daughters-in-law, Donna Oakland and Barbara Pitcher; sister, Montana Damann; and brother-in-law, John Damann; 19 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley’s husband, John Pitcher passed away during Covid and was unable to have a memorial service. They will have a joint memorial service and be laid to rest together.

Inurnment with military honors will be held on Tuesday, February 18th at 2pm at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
