Ronald Vonk Obituary

It is great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Dale Vonk on October 21, 2024 at age of 83.

Memorial service: Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 3 p.m.

Ron was born in Newton, Iowa on August 20, 1941 to Case and Alice Vonk. He served four years in the Air Force and when he got out he had several jobs before he went to work for General Dynamics, which is now Lockheed Martin. Ron spent over 40 years at Lockheed as an Electronic Engineer before retiring.

Ron loved to work with his hands and could fix just about anything. He was the one everyone called when something broke. It didn't matter if it was a tube radio, lawn mower, juke box or motorcycle. He could fix it.

Ron is survived by his sister, Jean Montray; his wife, Evonne Vonk; his daughter, Lisa Lewis; two step-sons, Donovan Crouch and Kenneth Crouch; three grandchildren, Justin Vaught, Ashley Showalter, Austin Lewis; and three step-grandchildren, Morgan Tossing, Michael Crouch and Kaylenda Crouch; and several nieces and nephews.

Proceeding Ron in his journey to the Lord are his parents, Case and Alice Vonk; sisters and brothers, Berneda Oswalt, William (Bud) Vonk, Joy Verwers, June Fife, Elaine Doubleday and Cleo Vonk.

Safely Home

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus's love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus's arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remained -
You shall rest in Jesus's land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
