Norma LaRue Martin, 95, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Norma was born on July 9, 1928, in Sagerton, Texas. She was a daughter to the late Ebbie Ray Martin and Nancy Lora Martin. Norma was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Lucile White, and her nephew, Bill Howard Ozborn.
Norma dedicated 38 years of her life to General Dynamics, where she was not only a charter member of Local 277 but also served as the secretary-treasurer for 28 years. Her commitment and leadership in the labor movement earned her the distinction of being one of Fort Worth’s first ladies of organized labor, a title that speaks volumes about her impact and legacy in the industry.
Some of the families’ favorite memories are of Christmas morning at Norma’s home. It is not Christmas without a big platter of cinnamon rolls and one of orange rolls!
She is survived by her sister, Billie Rogers; nieces, Vicki Nitschke (Wayland Edmundson, dec.), Diane Holman (Larry); great-nieces and nephews, Michelle Trollope (Tony), Chris Nitschke
(Lori), Holly Glover (Billy), Tabitha Holman (Norm Chong), Nathan Holman, Brooke Nitschke: and great-great nieces and nephews, Dylan, Winston, Ethan, Riley, Hayden, Landon, Jake
(Maranda), Connor, Cooper, Cade, Hudson, Trent, Elise, Noah, Soren, and Maren.
A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Cooper Carlisle for the loving care he gave Norma.
