On July 13, 1954, a "little" bundle of joy came into this world, a son born to Travis and LaJuana Bowers. Mike was born in Dallas, Texas, but grew up in Bedford. As a young boy, his dream was always the same, he wanted to become a policeman! Now you might think that little boys' dreams change, and they want to grow up to be one thing today and something different tomorrow but not this "little" guy; he just wanted to become a policeman since birth. Mike's dream never wavered, but came true. After graduating from Trinity High School, he went on to join the United States Air Force, becoming a Security Policeman. Once Mike completed his four-year term of serving our great country, he began his civilian law enforcement career starting with becoming a certified jailer for Tarrant County, then a police officer for the city of North Richland Hills. In 1985, he returned to Bedford and began his long-time service with the city. After serving 31 years and 8 months, Mike decided it was time to retire. Enjoying retirement, he and his wife, Carla, took the opportunity to travel for a bit before Mike stayed home to take care of his father-in-law. In February of 2018, he decided to join the workforce once again, going to work for LaSalle Corrections, aka Parker County Jail. On March 13, 2020, he was diagnosed with Metastatic Thyroid Cancer and the fight was on. He fought hard until he succumbed to his illness. Mike enjoyed spending time with his wife watching movies, riding motorcycles, traveling and going to church.

Mike is survived by his wife, Carla of Weatherford, Texas; son, David of Watauga, Texas; daughter, Taylor of Rochester, New York and daughter, Tabatha and grandson, Charly of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Bowers and sister-in-law, Paula of Haslet, Texas; nephew, Travis Bowers, his wife, Adriana, their daughter, Aubrey and son, Aidan of Oklahoma; nephew, Tyler Bowers, his wife, Ashley and twin daughters, Charley and Emerson of Oklahoma; mother, LaJuana and stepdad, Tom Foulks and father-in-law, Bob Bohnert, all of Weatherford, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
