Martha Marcelle Smith

Martha Marcelle Smith, born to Chester F. Machen Sr. and Ruby Chloe Garret Machen on November 16, 1958 passed away from this earthly plane on July 29, 2023.

Martha grew up around Azle and met the love of her life at the Dairy Queen there in 1980. They raised four children starting in Azle, ventured to Graford, then eventually settled in Mineral Wells. She started working early on in healthcare. Martha most definitely had the heart of a caregiver, where she spent over forty years and spent many years helping raise her 12 grandchildren and two great-grands. She was a firm believer in Faith and family. Martha loved her family with all her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty and Rosa Ann; her husband, Jerry; daughter, Melissa; and grandson, Keenan.

Survivors include her brother, Chester; children, Melinda (Alicia), Jerry (Taysia), and Krislyn (Jesse); grands, Taylor (Crockett), Austin (Kim), Kaleb, Aralynn, Maia, Hailey, big Joey, little Joey, Amani, Ryleigh, and Isaiah; and great grands, Hagen and Braylee; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
