Marie "Joan" Brodnax, 89, passed away October 11th, 2025, in Fort Worth Texas.
Born on May 9, 1936, in Manchester, England Joan brought her vibrant British spirit that would later become her unmistakable personality she was known for. Her life led her "across the pond" where she became a United States citizen in 1960. She honed her training and natural artistic talent to become a gifted Pastry Chef, making her own mark on the culinary scene in the Fort Worth Dallas area. In 1984, her dream was achieved with the opening of Les'Elegant Deserts & Tea Room. Her business became known for the true European pastries and afternoon tea experience only she could provide in West Fort Worth. That led to her pastries being sought after for celebrations all across the region where her pastries cakes and other confections added her European flair that boosted the level of sophistication for countless special occasions and celebrations. Joan's creativity wasn't limited to the kitchen. She found great joy in shopping for unique items to add to her vast collections, she also enjoyed knitting and the peace her flower gardens provided her. Each of her hobbies reflected her flamboyant British personality we all knew so well.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 41 years, Wayne; her mother and step-farther; and her younger brother.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia; her grandson, Aaron and his wife, Siara; and her sister-in-law, Nancy, along with a dear friend, Dominic and his partner, Angie.
