Margaret Hays Obituary

Margaret Ann Hays, surrounded by her family, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 24, 2024.  She was 91.

Please join us for a celebration of her life on Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m. at Aurora Baptist Church, 201 Derting Road, Aurora, TX 76078.

Born in 1933 to Walter and Mary D Williams, she grew up in Gilmer, Texas.  At the age of 14, she met her husband, Jay Hays.  The two were married in 1948 and began their life together.  Their son, Dale Hays was born in 1951 and in 1959, their daughter, Donna Hays was born.

Margaret was a stay-at-home mom until a transfer to Wichita, KS in the late 60’s. There she enrolled in business college and become a bookkeeper.  After a transfer back to Dallas/Ft Worth, TX, she became a full-time bookkeeper for Derr Construction and was employed there for over 20 years.  After retiring, she and her husband moved back to east Texas where they enjoyed living on the lake until his death in 2006.

Margaret then moved back to the D/FW area to live close to family.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and helping the family.  Most of all, she loved Jesus and going to church. Not even the debilitating disease of Dementia could not rob her of the joy and love for Jesus and her family.

Margaret is survived by her son, Dale Hays and wife Donna Hays, of Bullard, TX; Daughter Donna Austin and husband, Mark Austin, of Aurora TX; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Margaret is preceded in death by her father, Walter Williams; mother, Mary D Williams; and husband, Jay Hays.
