Lelia Noe Curl

Lelia Noe Curl died peacefully after a brief illness on October 27, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas.  She was born on September 4, 1928 in Avery, TX.

Graveside services will be held for Lelia (Lee) on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 10:00am at Greenwood Memorial Park, 700 Rockwood Park Dr., Fort Worth, TX.

Lelia was born in 1928 in Avery, TX and grew up in the small east Texas town of Monkstown.  Her family moved to east Fort Worth when she was 16, where she graduated from Poly High School.  She put herself through Texas Wesleyan University by working part time as a typist at Montgomery Ward on 7th Street.  Following graduation, Lelia taught elementary school and special reading for the Birdville and Fort Worth ISD’s until she retired in her fifties.  She was chairman of the Texas Textbook Committee for reading textbooks for several years.  She continued to tutor students in reading for many years after her retirement.

Lelia married Wesley Morris in 1946 and had three children, Sharon, Carey, and Stephen.  They divorced after many years together and in 1983, Lelia married George Curl, Jr.  George passed away in 1991.

Lelia was a very energetic, creative person with many interests and hobbies.  She loved to garden, sew, quilt, paint, make ceramics, play the piano and sing.  Lelia also enjoyed cooking big family dinners and entertaining her neighbors and friends.  She was proud of her children and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lelia was preceded in death by her son, Stephen; grandson, Brian; and husband, George.  She is survived by daughter, Sharon Morris Wayland; son, Carey Morris, and his wife, June; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
