Karen Renee (Campbell) Odum

Karen Odum, age 66, passed away at Azle Manor on January 16, 2022.

Karen was born October 5, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas. She graduated from Azle High School in 1974, and spent the immediate years living life to the fullest in Grapevine, Texas with her husband, Cecil Odum. For the majority of her life she lived in Fort Worth, where she lived in close proximity to her mother and best friend, Irene Gilmore, until Gilmore passed away in 2010. In 2016, Karen and Cecil moved happily to their final home in Granbury, Texas. Karen had a passionate love for many things including: Rock ‘n’ Roll (Especially Duran Duran and The Eagles), the color purple, football and various forms of art. She spent hours playing the guitar, keyboard, and singing with her husband. She was a caring mother and fantastic Mimi. As her children got older, she worked for many years alongside her husband in his print shop. She then became a Certified Ophthalmic Technician and traveled to Mexico twice to help perform eye surgeries on the less fortunate. 

Karen was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Odum; parents, Irene Gilmore and William Campbell; and brother, Gayle Campbell.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rori and Jesse Barnes; son Evan Odum; sister, Judy Wooten; and two grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Barnes; as well as many other close relatives that she loved dearly.

Karen was more than a great mother and wife, she was an amazing friend to all. She was always there to listen to anyone’s problems and give guidance when it mattered the most. The household was always a welcoming environment due to her loving embrace and positive outlook on life.

A celebration of life is being held at Eagle Mountain Baptist Church on Saturday, February 12, at 3:00 p.m. Any and all who want to attend and celebrate this fantastic woman’s life are welcomed with open arms.
