June Janette (Johnson) Roos, aged 93, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Gainesville, Texas. Born on March 26, 1933, in Clinton, Wisconsin, June lived a long and full life that touched the hearts of many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Johnson and Myrtle (Hodd) Johnson; and siblings, Eugene and Pat Johnson.
She was survived in death by her loving husband, John P. Roos; siblings, Orville and Gwynne (deceased) Johnson, Robert and Chris Johnson, and Joyce Begley; children, Judy (Roos) and Russell Newquist, Kathy (Roos) and Jack Dusthimer, Karen Roos, and Susan Roos; grandchildren, Nichole Newquist, John and Jamie Fletcher, Katherine (Dusthimer) and Richard Price, Matthew and Molly Newquist, Thomas Fletcher, Brandt Dusthimer, Evan Rickels, Jared and Katie Dusthimer, Jennifer (Newquist) and Eric Moorhead, Thomas Rickels, and Mallory Rickels; and great grandchildren, Ashton Fletcher, Tyler Fletcher, Katie Newquist, Lily Newquist, Ava Moorhead, Astrid Fletcher, Claire Moorhead, Iris Dusthimer , Agnes Dusthimer, and Brielle Fletcher.
June’s journey began in the small town of Clinton, where she was born to loving parents. Her early years were spent surrounded by the charm of Wisconsin’s countryside. As she grew older, her life took her on a path filled with cherished memories and meaningful connections and her family moved to north Wisconsin.
June also had a passion for cake decorating—a creative outlet that brought joy not only to her but also to those who admired her beautifully crafted confections. She had the privilege of studying along side the Wilton brothers at their World-renowned cake decorating school in Illinois and later passed the lessons on to her daughters and grandchildren.
One of the most treasured stories from June’s life often retold by her beloved husband John was how they met. While working at her parents bakery in Oregon, Illinois, John would come in daily to pick up donuts for his coworkers and fell for her from the first donut she sold him. John chose not to enlist in the Navy, but instead enlisted in the National Guard to remain close to June for fear that she would not be there when he returned. On October 17, 1951 they were married and they remained happily married for 74 years.
June’s legacy is carried forward by those who knew and loved her. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
