Juanita Elizabeth (Dupree) Zoern Cooper, 95 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 in Southlake, Texas.
Juanita was born to Clarice and Fred Dupree on June 7, 1925 in Sterlington, LA. After graduating from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA, she continued her education at Northeast Jr. College. She loved music and got a job at a music store in Monroe and that is where she met her first husband, H. Jay Zoern. After their marriage, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Maine Township High School District 207 in Park Ridge, IL. Jay was a music teacher at area High Schools in Illinois, conducted private music lessons out of their home, and was part owner of a music store in Des Plaines, IL. She helped with the business by doing the bookkeeping and was later employed as a secretary to the Superintendent of Maine Township High School District 207 in Park Ridge, IL. After retiring, she split her living between Florida and Wisconsin; 6 months in Sarasota, FL and 6 months in Door County, WI. She loved both homes and enjoyed the different activities at both places. In Sarasota, she was President of the homeowner's association in the community where she lived and would conduct Saturday morning meetings. She purposefully took on this post to help overcome fear of speaking in public! In Door County, she enjoyed volunteering at Birchcreek Music camp with her good and longtime friend, Dorthy Riley. She had deep faith and attended First Church of Christ Scientist in Des Plaines, IL. Her favorite saying was "Love is reflected in Love", and lived her life showing love to all. Growing up, she taught her children that “everyone has their good qualities” and “if you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything”. She had a passion for sewing, but also played golf and loved to watch all sports. Her easy-going manner, sunny disposition, and quick smile made everyone she met feel welcomed and appreciated...all that met her, loved her!
Juanita was preceded in death by her 3 husbands; H. Jay Zoern, m. 1945-1962; Joseph J.
