Josefina Marquez Gutierrez

Josefina (Mami Josie) Marquez Gutierrez, 82, passed away on May 1, 2022. She was born on March 17, 1940 in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico to Carlos Marquez and Petra Gallegos.

Josie, lived the majority of her life in Mexico. She came to live in Odessa,Texas in the 80's where she there met and later married, Ruben Arthuro Gutierrez on May 23,1984. Together, adopted his two grandchildren as their own. Josie was God's image of a Mother, with her Heart of Gold. 

Josie worked at Texas Packing for 16 years when she had retired. She was a fountain of love to everyone who surrounded her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a strong woman of faith with a great devotion to her Lord and Savior. Her hobbies included Bingo, and she loved to cook . She also enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones. Josie was the definition of God's love.

Her husband, Ruben, preceded her in death in 2001. She never remarried. She stayed loyal to the love of her life.

Josie was survived by her daughter, Monica Gonzales and husband, Jose (Joe) Gonzales; son, Jose Ruben (Boonie) Gutierrez;  granddaughters, Leticia Ramirez, Braeleigh Gutierrez and Isabella Smith; grandson, Julius Gutierrez and Gianni Johnson.

The family would like to express gratitude towards all friends and family for their love, support, and most of all for your prayers. We have chosen to keep privacy during this time. Family Only. Church Memorial service will be held in two weeks at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 108 NW 4th Ave., Mineral Wells, Texas. Family to notify with the date.

Josie's wishes were to be cremated and have her ashes taken back to her Roots (Meoqui).
