John Lochner brought a bright light into this world with his kindness, wisdom, sense of humor, and his joy in helping others. He was born in Tyler, Texas to Marie and Carl Lochner. He lived in Tyler until he moved to Houston to attend Rice University. He graduated with honors and was part of the brainiac society, Mensa.
John worked at Great Southern Life Insurance Company, then was self-employed for many years. He lived the last 40 years in Irving, TX where he made beautiful friendships. He spent his last years surrounded by his dear friends and his beloved dog, Mindy. He had a great love for all animals and enjoyed going to the park daily, where the squirrels knew him and came running when he arrived. He also loved taking food to the birds in the yard and hand-feeding them.
John loved music and could play both the piano and organ by ear. For several years, he was the organist at Berachah Church in Houston. For the past four years, he and his sister, Lynn would attend the Presbyterian Church in Montclair, CA by Zoom. Lynn would say, “that sounded pretty.” Johnny would say, “I love the chord progression in the middle of verse three.” When Johnny was three years old, and his mom tried to help him tie his shoelaces, he responded, “Johnny can!” That was pretty much his life philosophy. Whatever challenge he faced, whatever problem needed to be solved, his response was “Johnny can!” And he could, and he did!
John is predeceased by his mom and dad, and his dear sister, Mary Lou, who he is just now meeting.
Survivors include his sister, Lynn Lochner Viale; nephews, Drew (Yolie), Ken (Raquel), and Jeff Viale; and great-nephews, Kaden and Vincent Viale.
His friends commented on his passing:

He exuded love and joy everywhere he went – Robby
I will always remember John as Mr. Joyful, someone who was exceedingly generous. He was not always in the public eye with doing good deeds, sometimes
anonymously. - Anna
What a wonderful example of how to live a positive and optimistic life. His precious smile and happy outlook on life will be missed. And what a wonderful light he was
for us as well – Gena
