In loving memory of Janet Cheryl Dwire
Janet Dwire, cherished mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was 76 years old. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and strength.
Janet was born on December 14, 1946, in Birmingham, Alabama, and was very close to her sister Dian, as well as her brother-in-law, Tommy Haley (both deceased) and her dearly loved nephew, Mike Haley. In high school, she met her former husband, Johnny Dwire. They were married in Alabama in 1965, and had two children, Jackie and Jeff. The family moved to Fort Worth where Janet relished raising her children and nurtured them with unwavering love and support. She was involved in many community activities and organizations and was always ready to lend a helping hand with anything her kids were involved in such as baseball, softball, PTA, as well as coordinating the annual spook house fundraiser for the Benbrook Fire Department for many years.
Janet was talented and creative and in her free time she loved painting, embroidering, and baking masterfully decorated birthday cakes for her family as well as all the children in the neighborhood. Her favorite place was the ocean and she enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting seashells, and making glass vase seashell arrangements for her family and friends. She was an avid sports fan and always cheered loudly and proudly for her beloved Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and her favorite Nascar driver; Dale Earnhardt Jr. She also had a special fondness for animals and had many adored pets over the years.
Janet was hard working and held several different administrative assistant positions; including at Blackmon Mooring, TCU, and General Steel Company. She will be deeply missed by her children,
grandchildren, and friends.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Jackie Kelley of Plano, Texas; her son, Jeff Dwire of Fort Worth, Texas; her grandchildren, Evan Dwire, Melissa Kelley, Reed Kelley, Colton Dwire, Pearson Dwire, Payton Dwire; her son-in-law, Jeff Kelley; daughter-in-law, Nichole Dwire; and nephew, Mike Haley.
