Elijah Watson passed away on November 27, 2023, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born on October 17, 1996, in Bakersfield, California.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Elijah on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Fort Worth Funeral and Cremation, 8808 Camp Bowie West Blvd, Suite 170, Fort Worth, Texas 76116.
Elijah was gentle, kind, creative and curious. He grew up in Tehachapi, California, apart from five years spent in McKinney, Texas. After graduating from Tehachapi High School in 2014 he went onto earn a BA in Accounting. Elijah moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 2021. He worked for a large corporation, but his passion was writing. His dream was to “change the world” through film. He was working on several scripts at the time of his death, including one about his family. Elijah often spoke about the importance of “stories” and about how our true wealth and legacy lives on through our stories. He listened more than he spoke and collected a new story from every person that he met. He held every story close – as if it was a sacred artifact to be protected and cherished. His family hopes that others will join them in listening more deeply to the stories of others in testament and legacy to Elijah’s life.
Elijah loved his family deeply. And he was loved deeply. He is survived by his parents, Joel and Emily Watson of Fort Worth, Texas; and two siblings, Elizabeth Watson of Fort Worth, Texas and Gabriel Watson of Little Rock, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, Elijah’s family would appreciate receiving cards and letters that share memories and stories of his life.
