Elder Greggs Obituary

Elder Michael Greggs was born to the late Mr. Louis Greggs and Mrs. Betty Jean Tally Greggs March 8, 1963, in Houston, Texas

He attended Houston Public Schools, graduating from M. B. Lamar High School in May 1981.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served in the Infantry.  After serving his country in the military, Michael tried his hands at several career opportunities before finding his career love on the open road as a truck driver for 20 years, until his health began to decline. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at East Macedonia American Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. He served faithfully in the music department in the starlight band, youth and mass choirs, male chorus, and Jr. Deacons. He was also regularly active in the Baptist Young People’s Union (BYPU). He lost his way for a brief time but rededicated his life to Christ in 2010. He accepted his call to ministry and was ordained an Elder in S.A.L.T. Ministries, Fort Worth in October 2016. In 2007, he was reunited with his childhood sweetheart, Yolanda Davis. The two were married November 21, 2015, and made Fort Worth, Texas their home. Michael loved to cook and entertain, even after he fell into ill health. He was also a huge fan of country music, with his favorite artist being Trace Adkins.

He is preceded in sleep by his father, Louis Greggs.

He leaves loving, cherished, and happy memories with: his wife, Yolanda Greggs; 1 son, Patrick Greggs of Houston, Texas; mother, Betty Greggs-Marshall of Houston, Texas; sisters, Linda Greggs-Tyler and Ardis Marie Greggs both of Houston, Texas; brothers, Bobby Greggs, Shannon Greggs, and Albert Greggs all of Houston, Texas; 1 step-daughter, Jessica Johnson (Brian) of Commerce, Texas; 3 step-sons, Robert Ellis Martin and Andrew Johnson of Commerce, Texas, and Brandon Martin, Sr. of Houston, Texas; 2 step-granddaughters, Angel Faith Johnson and Hannah Alexander; 3 step-grandsons, Brandon Martin, II, Xavier Johnson, Markuann Fobbs-Martin; extended grandchildren, Jeremiah Michael Houston, Hailey Marin, Nathaniel Thorns III, and Kai Stafford; extended daughter, Tiffany Burks; sisters-in-law, Kim Smith-Wren (James) and Mary Davis Anthony; brothers-in-law, Charles Doyle, Charles Anthony Jr (Laura), James Davis Jr, and Marc Anthony; best friends, Robert “Bob” Hull and Sanchez and Tammy Matthews; aunts and uncles; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children and “play” nieces and nephews; the members of S.A.L.T.
