Duncan Conrad Skiles

Duncan Conrad Skiles, age 36, of Fort Worth, Texas died in Burleson, Texas on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Duncan was born in Beaumont, Texas on August 19, 1989, to Harold Everett Skiles and Sarah Tod Skiles. He grew up in Fannett, Texas until moving to Fort Worth in 2006.

Duncan graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in 2008 and attended Tarrant County College. He was very active in his teen years in the Young Religious Unitarian Universalist (YRUU) programs at the churches he attended in both Beaumont and Fort Worth. He made many lifelong friends through YRUU and his experiences at church lock-ins, rallies, and summer camps were instrumental in shaping the adult he became.

A lifelong learner, Duncan, like his father, was an avid reader and loved to discuss history and politics, or really anything he was interested in at the moment. He had recently decided he needed to read War and Peace because it was a classic.

Duncan loved music of all kinds, but especially the classic rock his parents raised him on. He had a wonderful voice and would frequently walk in singing loud and clear whatever he had been listening to on his way home.

As a child and youth, he tried many instruments including harmonica, ukulele, and drums (yes, his parents bought him a drum set because that’s what he wanted for Christmas). Once in Fort Worth, he bought a used cello and took lessons for a while. Duncan’s favorite instrument was the guitar, which he taught himself to play.

Duncan was an enthusiastic baseball fan, going to several Houston Astros games in his youth, playing Little League, and eventually (partially) switching his loyalty to the Texas Rangers. He watched games on TV and would whoop and holler with gusto as if he was in the stadium.

His eclectic interests and outgoing personality resulted in him making many friends across many venues. In recent years he was into fishing, painting, karaoke, movie trivia pub nights, Gundam models, and Magic the Gathering. Duncan’s latest passion was disc golf. He was a member of the Professional Disc Golf Association and was rated 821 with 20 career events and 4 career wins.

Duncan was a kind and gentle soul who was passionate about humanity and very accepting of people. He had a strong since of morality and was willing to stand up and speak out about his beliefs. He loved his family and his friends and will be greatly missed.

Duncan was preceded in death by his father, his uncle, Robert “Bobby” Powell Tod, and his aunt, Martha “Marty” Jo Tod.

He is survived by his mother and a brother, Joseph “Joe” Everett Skiles (Cassie), his aunts, Mary Lee Tod (Calvin Timmerman), Theresa Andreas Tod, and Glenda Elaine Martin (John), his cousins, Robert Gabriel Tod (Victoria), Joshua “Josh” Alton Tod (Valerie), Jeremy Brian Martin (Leigh), and Jacob Paul Martin (Brooke), and his nephew Logan Everett Skiles.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, 1:00 PM at Westside Unitarian Universalist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Refreshments will be served afterward. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to Heifer International, UNICEF, or the charity of your choice.
