Donald Melvin Smith Sr., age 85, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2021.
He was born August 22, 1936, the son of James Roland Smith and Lometa Lucille Embry Smith, in Dallas, Texas. On October 11, 1958, he married Virginia Pearl Coffman. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roland Barry Smith, and sister in law, Betty Smith. Donald worked several jobs through his life. He worked at the Dallas Times Herald for 7 years and Dallas Morning News for 15 years in Dallas, Texas. He and his wife moved to Hot Springs for a number of years after retirement, and then moved back to Fort Worth, Texas in 2018. He was a member of Southwest Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs, AR. He loved his family, his church, and enjoyed a variety of games, and visiting with others.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia Smith, one son, Donald Melvin Smith Jr., and wife, Millie of Fort Worth, TX; his grandchildren, Shane, Taylor, and Daniel, all of Fort Worth; as well as a half brother, Jim (Roland) Smith; half sister, Mari Smith; and half sister, Pam Waller; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. at
Hurst Baptist Church, 737 Treadwell Drive, Hurst, TX 76053.
Burial will follow in Hot Springs, AR, at Peak Cemetery.
