Colton Kelican Obituary

Colton Ross Kelican, born November 15, 1991 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Deborah D. Snedden and Richard D. Kelican, passed April 1, 2024.

Colton was an only child, but he had many brothers and sisters. We moved to Parkville, Missouri, where he attended kindergarten and built a life. Colton attended Parkville South High School and graduated in 2010. He was a member of the debate team all four years and a member of the National Speech and Debate Association. Colton received numerous awards and achievements in Policy Debate, Public Forum, and Lincoln Douglas. He was one of the PHS Swim team members all 4 years, where he won numerous awards in competitive swimming, State and National. Colton attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, MIZZOU for two years where he studied Elementary Education.

Colton was a member of the South Platte Baptist Church where he was baptized and active in the Awanas and in numerous church and community activities. He was a mentor with the Junior Special Olympics. Colton made a career as an IT Technician.  He had a passion for technology and helping others learn about it. He had a smart, compassionate, fierce, confident, energetic and adventurous spirit. He was fluent in Spanish, loved to travel, enjoyed fine dining, the water, creeks, lakes, rivers, and swimming in oceans. Colton loved all animals, especially his dog, Dew (Dewfuss), who was by his side for 14 years.  Colton was a beacon of light that will never be dimmed. He had a heart as big as the State of Texas where he was born.

Colton has left behind many cherished family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He was survived by his madre, Debby Gant; his father, Rick Kelican.
