Charlie Martinez Obituary

Charlie Martinez, was called home by our Heavenly Father, February 7, 2022 in Ft. Worth, Texas.  He was born October, 10, 1957 in Big Spring, Texas.

Charlie was the youngest of four children born to Pat and Virgina Martinez. He attended Big Spring High School and went on to marry Maria (Vera) Arispe. They had three children together: Patricia, retired Army, Gabriel, retired Army and Patrick, Bachelor of Administration from University of Arlington.  Patrick also follows his father’s professional footsteps within the sales industry. Charlie worked at General Dynamics/Lockheed from 1986-2002, where he worked his way to lead inspector for the Air Force One, Presidential Aircraft. He went on to work at Utility Trailers, where he was one of the top sales associates. He retired and worked part time as a security officer for the Dallas Cowboys stadium. Charlie loved the Dallas Cowboys and upon his retirement moved directly across the street from their stadium and began working security detail.  He shared his love for everything sports related to Dallas (Cowboys, Mavericks and Rangers) with his children, who all are avid fans themselves. If Charlie wasn’t working a game day, he would enjoy watching the parade of Cowboy fans from his apartment’s balcony. When he wasn’t at a game or working, he was golfing. Anyone that knows him knows he loved to golf.  He has won many tournaments throughout his golf career.  His most prized win was when he placed 1st at the Senior PANAM in 1999. He also played and placed in Hawaii, Puerto Rico and all throughout Texas. He was a member of the Hispanic PGA and Fort Worth, Chapter of the PANAM Golf Association.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Virgina Martinez; his Sisters, Patsy and Katy Martinez.

He is survived by his three children, Patricia Niemann, Gabriel Martinez, Patrick Martinez; his sister, Yolanda Montelongo; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; three nephews and many numerous friends.

Charlie chose for his ashes to be placed with his sisters, Patsy and Katy within the same cemetery as their parents and the remaining portion he wished to be scattered on a golf course.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the place where he played golf, the Fort Worth Chapter of the Pan American Golf Association on February 27, 2022 at 3 p.m.  The family will then have a grave side service followed by a celebration of life at the Moss Creek Ranch in Big Spring, Texas, March 12, 2022 at 1 p.m.

If you would like to donate in Charlie’s name to the PGA Hope it would be greatly appreciated.
