Alva Carruth Obituary

In Loving Memory of Alva Wyatt Carruth
Remembering a Cherished Life

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and friend.  Alva Wyatt Carruth, a longtime resident of Millsap TX, passed away on March 20, 2026.

He was preceded in death by two of his children, Jim Carruth and Brenda (Carruth) Lawler; his parents, Alva and Imogene (Hamrick) Carruth and his wife, Carol Carruth.

He is survived by his children, Richard Carruth of Ponca City, OK; Mark (Laina) Courtney of Collinsville, OK; Tracy (Dawn) Courtney of Park City, KS; Melissa Rhea of Ottawa, KS; George (Jolene) Courtney of Millsap,  TX; James (Mindy) Courtney of Blackwell, OK; Jacqueline (Nathan) Heller of Kansas City, KS; also numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Alva was born on September 27th, 1940, in Blackburn, OK. He lived and worked in Ponca City, OK as a truck driver for various companies like Coor’s and Coca Cola. He then moved to the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas and became the preferred driver for mobile home manufacturers such as Palm Harbor and Fleetwood Homes. Upon retiring, he moved to Millsap, TX where some of his happiest moments were spent on his son’s ranch, gently bottle-feeding and caring for young deer and fishing at every chance he could get. Alva’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering support touched the lives of all who knew him. Throughout Alva’s life, he exemplified compassion, integrity, and generosity, leaving a legacy in the hearts of those around him.

Alva will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. May Alva’s memory be a blessing and his spirit continue to inspire us every day. In lieu of flowers or a memorial service, his last wishes were for everyone to go fishing and have fun in his honor. Monetary donations in his name may be made to the Fishing for Good Foundation and will go towards sponsored fishing trip(s) for Veterans, Active Military and First Responders.
