Vaughn Floyd Obituary

Vaughn Hester Floyd, 81, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Vaughn was born on June 27, 1938, in Nashville, Arkansas to Marvin and Ruth Floyd.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm Friday, January 10, 2020 at Fort Worth Funerals & Cremations, 8808 Camp Bowie W. Fort Worth, TX, 76116.

Funeral Service: 10:00am on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Worth Baptist Church, 4900 Campus Drive, Fort Worth, TX, 76119.

Interment to follow at Cottondale Cemetery, Cottondale, Texas.

Vaughn grew up in Alto, Texas and graduated from Alto High School in 1957. After high school, Vaughn moved to Fort Worth and attended Pleasant Glade Baptist Church, where he was saved and met his future wife. Vaughn said "she was coming up the steps at church with a really long pony tail swingin' in the breeze and that was it for me."  Vaughn attained a college degree as he worked full time for Montgomery Ward, from which he retired after 40 years of service.

Vaughn faithfully served his Lord in various churches in bus ministries, music ministries and teaching. His greatest happiness of service was the 35 years he served as Sunday School worker in the Youth Department at Worth Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with the teens at summer camps, retreats, mission trips and other activities. He last enjoyed the Youth Department when they came to sing carols for him just days before he passed away.

Vaughn humbly served on the Worth Baptist Church deacon board for over 35 years. He considered it an honor and privilege to serve in that capacity.

Vaughn was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ruth Floyd; son, Gary Lynn Floyd; and granddaughter, Abigael Floyd.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jean; children, Michael Floyd and wife, Donna, Sheryl Tolliver, and Charles Floyd and wife, Treva; grandchildren, Faith, Grace, Evan, Zander, and Kaelan Floyd.
