Darryl Johnson Obituary

IN LOVING HONOR OF
DARRYL K. JOHNSON
1964 – 2022

But as for me, I know that my redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body, I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!  Job 19:25-27

Darryl transitioned from this life to be with OUR Lord God and His Son Jesus Christ on July 14, 2022.
Today we celebrate the life of Darryl K. Johnson, 58, Son, Husband, father, brother, uncle, counselor, and great friend. Darryl was born on May 28, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas to AD and Meverine Johnson, a middle child with ten siblings. At a very young age, Darryl knew he would be in the Army of the Lord, teaching, educating, and ministering the word of God. Darryl was the first of 12 children to attend college full-time and influenced many of his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews, not to mention the countless number of students his passion and the
constant pursuit of higher education impacted. Darryl has been an educator, lecturer, and inspirational speaker for more than 30 years. He consulted with educational systems nationally and has presented the first of a seven-part book series written by Darryl “The Inner-Self”, modeled to a myriad of schools and communities throughout the country. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Communication, General, at Texas Southern University Houston Texas, and went on to obtain his Master of Education (M.Ed) in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling/Counselor, at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.

Darryl’s resume and CV read like the CHAMPION for higher education and culture change that he was. His exceptional leadership and service were shared with major Universities and Colleges around the Nation (Dallas Baptist University, Kent State University, Morris Brown College, Cedar Valley College, and Bennett College).
In 2000 Darryl established DKJ Consulting Group with the primary focus on “Closing the Generation Gap”. This in-depth evolution for bringing together in one central location different generations and building on that difference for a congruent professional development workforce. This unparalleled strategy is being used by businesses and corporations around the nation. When he transitioned from this life he was the Owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of DKJ Consulting Group. He never stop “CLAIMING”.

In October 2013, in Greensboro NC Darryl met and fell in love with Karen Moore. On April 28, 2017, Darryl and Karen married at one of the most beautiful wine vineyards, nicely tucked away in the rolling hills and streams of Elkin Creek North Carolina. They later moved to Stockton California, but not before their love for higher education took them to enjoy their life and love in the Pocono Mountains. Darryl is proceeded in death by his father Rev. AD Johnson, mother Rev. Meverine Johnson, and brothers Marvin Johnson and Lee Johnson.

-THE JOHNSON FAMILY

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call I turned to see his face and left it all. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that place at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss Ah yes, and these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, and a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me God wanted me now, He has set me free.
