Diane Shirley Brown

January 24, 1964 ~ December 15, 2021 (age 57)

Obituary

For 17 years, Diane sang with Southern Charm the beautiful song, “In the Presence of Jehovah.”  She sang with such passion and conviction because she knew and experienced that, even here on earth, we can be in His presence.  When you were around Diane, you could feel His presence in her kindness, her selflessness, her unconditional love, her encouraging words, and even in her joyfully explosive laughter!  You could see His presence in her love for Jimmy and their love for each other.  You could see Jehovah God in her life because she was faithful to let Him in and allow His glory to be shown to all.  On December 15, 2021 with open arms, Jehovah received Diane Shirley Brown of Fort Worth, TX into His presence for eternity.

Diane was born January 24, 1964 in Waterloo, Iowa and raised in La Porte City, Iowa.  She was the youngest of nine children born to Donald and Joyce Slick. She had been the Administrative Assistant of Contract Bond Agency in Fort Worth, Texas for 18 years. From a very young age, Diane fell in love with music and singing.  Singing was a passion of hers that became her assignment from God.  Her musical journey began with her singing with her sister, Renee, in a country band. Then out on her own, her journey took her to places like Johnnie High’s Country Music Revue in Arlington, Texas.  From there to Shoji Tabuchi Show in Branson, Missouri, then back to Texas at the Mansfield Music Mill in Mansfield. This is where she met Karen and Kathy and the ladies gospel trio, Southern Charm was formed.  Together, they toured, performed and shared their testimonies to thousands all over Texas, surrounding states and beyond; from tiny country churches to large concert halls, they went wherever God opened a door.  At the conclusion of Southern Charm travels, Diane was asked to join the praise team at Church on Rush Creek in Arlington, Texas where she continued to do her life’s passion serving her Savior until her passing.  Undoubtedly, Diane continues making music, only now with the angels.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Bob Slick and Craig Slick; and sister, Beth Meissen.

She was survived by her loving husband of 17 1/2 years, Jim Brown. Though Diane had no children of her own, she was definitely a “Bonus Mom” to Jim’s three sons, Jimmy and wife, Kimberly Brown, Eric and wife, Heather Brown, Jason and wife, Tracy Brown.  She was “GiGi” to grandchildren, Shelby Brown, Parker and Kacie Brown, Christian Crook, Alyssa Brown, Erika Brown, Dalton Brown, Savannah Brown, Ryleigh Brown, Shawn and Katie Waara, Tyler and Ashley Thomas, Brooklynn Bordelon, Tristin Bordelon and great-grandson, Griffin Waara,  brothers, Greg Slick and wife, Cathy and Jeff Sellick and wife, Kellie; sisters, Mary Goetzinger and husband, Terry, Terri Jeffries and husband, Gary, Renee Miller and husband, Eric and brother-in-law, Mike Meissen; as well as many nephews, nieces, extended family and her most beloved and loyal dog, Jake.

Diane made an eternal impact on the lives of so many people and will be missed by all.
